The Beginning
Leary Owens, the esteemed president and founder of the Blackshear Heights Family, is a visionary leader with a passion for building strong community connections. It all began with a simple idea—to create a space for family bonding and fun. In the fall of 2013, Leary initiated the annual Fall Festival with a humble backyard gathering, driven by his desire to foster closer relationships with his son and cousins. What started as a small-scale event soon blossomed into something much larger, as word spread throughout the neighborhood about the festivities. Over the course of 11 years, Leary transformed the Fall Festival into a beloved tradition, complete with bounce houses, trunk-or-treats, and a plethora of games and activities. As the event continued to grow in popularity, outgrowing the confines of his backyard, Leary expanded his vision to encompass the entire community of San Angelo, Texas. Every year, the Fall Festival finds a new home, welcoming over 400 children from the Concho Valley to partake in the joy and camaraderie of the occasion. Leary's dedication to fostering a sense of unity and belonging within the community is evident in the success of the Blackshear Heights Family and its signature event. Through his leadership and unwavering commitment, Leary Owens has created a lasting legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness for generations to come.
